Ahvenkoski Dog Forest
The Ahvenkoski Dog Forest is located about eight kilometers from the dog-friendly Strömfors Ironworks. In this fenced-in forest area of about 1.5 hectares, dogs can run freely and explore the natural forest environment safely with their own group.
A real forest—not a dog park
At Ahvenkoski’s dog park, you can enjoy the outdoors in an authentic mixed forest near the sea, close to the Ahvenkoski Bay Natura 2000 site. Forest trails wind through the area, and the varied terrain includes tree roots and rocky outcrops as well as a small stream and a more open meadow. The meadow offers plenty of space for energetic play, while the forest provides plenty to explore and sniff out.
Koirametsä is reserved entirely for your group’s use. In addition to regular forest outings, it’s ideal for gatherings with fellow dog owners, training sessions, and breed and breeder meetups.
From an overnight forest hike to an adventure
At Koirametsä, you can stay longer than on a typical outdoor walk—even overnight. Within the fenced-in area, you can, by separate arrangement, spend the night in your own tent or hammock, as well as in a lean-to or barbecue shelter. Please bring your own camping gear.
Staying overnight also provides a safe environment to practice hiking and sleeping outdoors with your dog before going on longer trips together.

🐕 Private Forest Reservation
The dog forest is reserved exclusively for your group. A maximum of 7 dogs per reservation; a larger number may be permitted depending on the situation, subject to separate agreement.
🌲 Open year-round
The forest trails are not lit, so you'll need your own headlamp after dark. The gate, the shelter, and the restroom are lit.
🔥 Hiking Services
Barbecue shelter, lean-to, picnic table, and restroom. Use of the barbecue shelter requires a reservation for at least two hours. Drinking water for dogs is available during the summer season.

There is parking space for about 3–4 cars next to the forest.
