Join us to hear the stories of the ironworks’ buildings. During the walk, we’ll explore the history of the Strömfors Ironworks through its architectural evolution. We’ll focus on the ironworks’ colorful history as reflected in its physical and visible changes. We’ll reflect on the fate and significance of buildings that have disappeared from the landscape. Along the way, we’ll discuss the ironworks’ material eras and shifts in architectural styles, and explore the history of traditional iron smelting. The tours are led by local architect and architectural historian Astria Excell.
Building history walks are available for groups all year round, either as a 1-hour walk without visiting the buildings inside or as a 1.5-hour walk visiting two buildings. The guided tours are in Finnish and English. General history of Strömfors Ruins, in Finnish, English or Japanese.
