There is plenty to see in Strömfors Ironworks!

The Strömfors Ironworks area is a treasure trove full of historical charm and cultural richness. Here you can explore many interesting sights that offer unforgettable experiences.

Experience blacksmith's forging demonstrations in the old forge, admire Helene Schjerfbeck's beautiful altarpiece in the church of Ruotsinpyhtää and see the changing art exhibitions. Four rounds of exhibitions will be held in Strömfors pottery during the summer. There are also exhibitions in the area's shops and restaurants. There are also two museums on the history of the ironworks and iron production in the area, in Upper and Alapaja. In addition, a temporary exhibition on the history of the ironworks in the 20th century will be open until summer 2024 at the south end of Alapaja, next to the A'la Talli shop.

Witness living history by taking part in the traditional forging demonstrations of the master blacksmith of Strömfors pottery in the Upper Workshop. Strömfors is home to Finland's only hydro-powered bundling mill. (Note: the waterwheel will be restored in summer 2024. This summer's demonstrations without the waterwheel.) See the calendar of events for the demonstration schedule.

You can also explore the pot with the guide under three different themes. See the schedule of guided toursbelow. Guided tours cost €10, under 18s €5. Under 7s free. The guided tours last about an hour.
