Unforgettable Kymijoki Valley

The pearl of Kymenlaakso, the Kymijoki River, flows across the region from Kouvola to Kotka and on to the sea in five branches. The region's treasures, Ruotsinpyhtää and the Strömfors foundry, flourish in this story. From the river you can enjoy a unique view, but you can also experience the beauty of the river valley in many ways by cycling. So hop on your bike and head for the Kymijoki River!

The unforgettable Kymijoki cycling route officially starts at Kouvola railway station and runs south along the river. However, you can start your journey from any point along the route. The journey reveals the river's role as a source of wealth and recreation. Along the route you will encounter large paper mills, idyllic rural villages with fields, and many stunning waterfalls and riverscapes. In Kotka, at the southern end of the route, cyclists can explore historic sites and award-winning parks, and the sea is also worth a spin. On the return leg of the route, the route heads to Pyhtää and Loviisa, where the Valkmusa National Park and the idyllic Strömforss Ruins await visitors.
